RigCast Privacy Policy
RigCast ("we," "us," or "the app") is a trucking weather and road-risk app that helps drivers decide whether to drive, slow down, reroute, or shut down. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and a securely hashed password (handled by our authentication provider). We use this to sign you in and keep your data tied to your account.
- Trip information you create. Saved routes, your truck profile (trailer type, load status, weight), and the route checks you run. This is stored with your account so it is there when you return.
- Route coordinates. When you check a route, its start and end coordinates are sent to our scoring service to retrieve weather, routing, and nearby truck stops. These requests are not tied to your identity.
- Voice input (only when you use it). When you enter a trip by voice, your spoken words are processed by your device's built-in speech recognition to produce text. We receive only the resulting text, not the raw audio, and use it to look up the places you named. We do not store audio recordings.
Information we do not collect
- We do not store your device's GPS location on our servers. The app may ask for location permission to show your position on the map; that stays on your device.
- We do not use advertising identifiers, show ads, or sell your data.
How we use your information
- To provide the core service: scoring routes, saving your trips and truck, and signing you in.
- To improve our risk model using aggregated, non-identifying data about road and weather conditions.
Service providers and data sharing
We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for their own marketing. We rely on service providers that process data on our behalf:
- Supabase (authentication and database hosting) stores your account and trip data.
- Render hosts our scoring service.
- Map, routing, and weather providers (the U.S. National Weather Service and OpenStreetMap-based routing and geocoding services) receive route coordinates to return forecasts and directions. They do not receive your identity.
Data security
All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Account data is access-controlled so that you can only read and write your own records.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your account and trip data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing support@rigcast.app, and we will delete it.
Children
RigCast is intended for professional and adult drivers and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
